The Tokha Municipality has decided to give a 150 percent allowance to the health workers who will be at the forefront of controlling and treating COVID-19.
A meeting of the 61st Municipal Executive Committee on Sunday has decided to provide allowance to the team, including the medical officer who will be directly deployed in the front control of COVID-19 and the laboratory staff to be deployed in the self-collection from the date of operation of the isolation center.
Municipal spokesperson Bachchuraj Basyal informed that it had been decided to provide a 100 percent allowance based on salary and daily attendance to the ambulance drivers, security personnel, office assistants, and sweepers who will be directly deployed under the control of COVID-19.
The allowance will be provided on the basis of the recommendation of the health branch of the municipality, said Basyal.
A similar meeting has also decided to provide a 40 percent allowance to other drivers, health workers, and 25 percent allowance to other health workers who are indirectly working under the control of COVID-19.
The municipality has stated that it will allow the health workers to engage in contact tracing and swab collection from June. Tokha has even made an arrangement that the same person cannot get a double allowance.
Chief Prakash Adhikari of the municipality informed that the amount of food and meal expenses for the corona infected in isolation would be provided as per the committee’s decision under the coordination of the deputy chief.
The meeting of the executive committee has decided to hand over the motorcycles and scooters to the ward office and request the state government to purchase the health-related equipment required by the municipality.
Tokha-2 Chandeshwari Primary Health Center will recommend the Bagmati State Government to take forward the necessary process for upgrading it as a provincial hospital.
The meeting has decided to open food, vegetables, fruit, dairy, and meat shops in the municipality from 5 am to 8 am and from 5 am to 9.15 am from the next day.
So far, corona infection has been detected in 92 people in Tokha of them, 63 are actively infected. As the rate of corona infection has increased in the Tokha municipality, a 17-bed ‘isolation center’ has been set up and brought into operation only on Saturday.
